I have several lavender plants growing in my backyard, and I love incorporating the flowers into foods you wouldn’t normally think to put them in. I’ve made lavender bread before, and it turned out fabulously. So when I found this recipe for lavender lemonade on Shindig411, I had to try it out.
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
About ¼ cup fresh lavender blooms, stripped from their stems
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice, strained
2 ½ cups water
Make a syrup by combining the water and sugar in a saucepan, and boiling until the sugar dissolves. Take the pot off the heat, and add the lavender. Stir it in, cover, and let it steep for 1 to 4 hours. Strain the syrup into a pitcher and discard the lavender.
Combine the syrup with 2 ½ cups of water, and lemon juice to taste. Chill.
Your lavender lemonade is now ready to serve!
